High Tech Computer (HTC) on August 30 in Japan unveiled the 3G-version of its HTC Touch-series smartphone. The HTC Touch HT1100 (known previously by the codename Nike) will be launched in cooperation with NTT DoCoMo in the spring of 2008.
HTC chose to introduce the HT1100 in Japan first to demonstrate its commitment to the development of the smartphone market in Japan, said the company. HTC also noted that it has launched three smartphones for the Japanese market in 2007.
Being an upgrade to the 2.5G HTC Touch, the 3G-compliant HT1100 includes a similar touch control interface that was a main feature of its predecessor. Additionally, a sliding keypad has been added for easy dialing and input, said HTC.
The HT1100 will be available in white and black, while the previous HTC Touch is available only in black, the company noted.
